Opening in 2008 as a quiet neighborhood pizza joint, Ava’s Pizzeria & Wine Bar was quickly awarded “Best New Restaurant” by the readers of What’s Up Eastern Shore Magazine. Since then the same readers have voted Ava’s “Best Pizza” 11 years in a row. Zagat (e.g Wasabi Oysters, Meatball Sliders) aired with “serious wine” at this “reasonably priced” Italian “jewel” in St. Michaels; “personable” service is another asset, and if brick walled quarters get a bit “cozy” for size, a fireplace- enhanced patio provides a “pleasant” alternative.
Ava's menu has an eclectic variety of brick oven pizzas, fresh salads, handcrafted sandwiches - featuring fresh mozzarella and pasta made daily in our prep kitchens. Owner Chris Agharabi gathered his culinary training at L'Academie de Cuisine in Bethesda, MD, however, you won’t always find him in the kitchen. Chris is often buzzing around meeting with guests and cheering on the kitchen and yelling at the Washington Capitals.
Proudly referred to as the Mothership by staff who have spent more than a decade there, the original Ava’s is located in the heart of St. Michael’s in a cleverly adapted historical home once known for Jimmy Jump's goose picking service. Featuring a retractable roof, fireplaces and a beer tap waterfall, the dog friendly back patio is available for dining in all four seasons. (ask to see Hammy’s pup menu).
Our newest location in historic downtown Cambridge which opened in 2018 at the corner of Poplar & High Streets. Located in the old water company building and jailhouse, our Cambridge location features a bright dining room, moody bar with retractable picture windows, and a semi-private dining area with side entrance.
